Prokinetics

Prokinetic agents modify oesophageal function by increasing the LOS pressure and enhancing gastric emptying.

Patients with chronic cough may have abnormal oesophageal motility,[Kastelik JA, 2003] therefore, prokinetics may be of use in these cases. However, compared with other agents, prokinetics have an unfavourable side-effect profile.
